Carbon Offsetting

The Lufthansa Group is committed to constantly reducing CO₂ emissions by investing in new and thus more efficient aircraft, products and processes. Additionally, we also support you to act and make your flight CO₂-neutral already today. To serve as a good example, business air travel of all Lufthansa Group employees has been CO₂-neutral since 2019. CO₂ emissions are offset by myclimate.

A smart and simple way to contribute to CO2 neutral flying

Compensaid is a platform developed by the Lufthansa Innovation Hub. It allows you and your travelers to keep an eye on travel activities and compensate for all the CO₂ emissions inevitably caused.

The platform allows to choose or combine two options:

Fossil Aviation fuel can be replaced one-to-one with Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). This reduces CO₂ emissions by up to 80 percent. The platform calculates the price difference between SAF and fossil kerosene and travelers only pay the surcharge for the innovative fuel. The Sustainable Aviation Fuel will then be deployed from Frankfurt within six months. Offsetting with SAF is one of the most promising options for making the future of flying CO₂-neutral.

Alternatively, travelers can support high-quality projects of the Swiss climate protection organization myclimate. The Lufthansa Group has been partnering with myclimate for effective climate protection since 2007. To offset the CO₂ emissions, the contributions are collected and distributed to ten projects spread over four continents worldwide by myclimate. To date, a total of over 9,200 tons of CO₂ have been offset.

We offer comfortable solutions to offset the CO2 emissions for every traveler
