In our interconnected world, it is taken for granted that we can be online anytime, anywhere. Whether with family, friends or business partners – connectivity is key.

At Lufthansa, Travel ID and Miles & More customers already benefit from unlimited free messaging on the FlyNet® network on all short and medium-haul flights. However, on long-haul flights, this was previously only possible by purchasing a Flynet® package. But not anymore: from summer 2025, the airline will also offer unlimited free messaging on intercontinental flights.

Regardless of their travel class, passengers will be able to send and receive as many messages as they like, including photos, on their own smartphone or tablet during the flight using the familiar apps. The introduction of free messaging on long-haul flights is another important step in the continuous improvement of the travel experience.

Incidentally, free messaging will also be available on selected long-haul flights of two other Lufthansa Group airlines – Austrian Airlines and SWISS – in the future. The service has been available on short and medium-haul flights with Lufthansa and on numerous Austrian Airlines aircraft since 2024.
