New seating options in the A380 Business Class: Privacy Seat and Extra Long Bed
Lufthansa is expanding its upgraded Airbus A380 Business Class with two new seat categories. For travel starting 15 September 2026, Business Class passengers can reserve select premium seats in advance for an additional fee.
Privacy Seat
The Privacy Seat offers a high degree of privacy right by the window. The distance from the aisle provides more comfort and peace and quiet, like a personal retreat above the clouds.
HON Circle Members and Senators as well as passengers traveling on a Business Flex fare can reserve a Privacy Seat free of charge (exception: Business Light fare).
Extra Long Bed
The Extra Long Bed offers plenty of space for those who wish to enjoy their flight to the fullest. The seat has an extra-long, at least 2.12-meter / 6 ft 11 in-long bed. It isn’t only perfect for tall people, it’s the best choice for passengers who would really like to stretch out. Outstanding comfort and restful sleep ensure a relaxed arrival and an optimal start to a successful day.

On which flights are the new seat categories available?
The Privacy Seat and Extra Long Bed are available exclusively in the upgraded A380 Business Class. Three retrofitted aircraft are currently in service, with additional aircraft to follow. In total, eight A380s will receive the new cabin configuration.
The retrofitted A380 can be easily identified during booking by its 1-2-1 seating layout and the reduced Business Class cabin with 68 seats.
At present, A380 aircraft featuring the new Business Class are primarily operated between Munich (MUC) and the following cities:
- Boston (BOS)
- Washington, D.C. (IAD)
- Los Angeles (LAX)
- Mumbai (BOM)
