Easier transfers at German airports: No transit visa required for Indian nationals
(3 June 2026)
Effective 3 June 2026, Indian nationals no longer require an airport transit visa when connecting through German airports to onward international destinations. This change significantly simplifies travel planning and reduces administrative requirements.
It also makes Germany an even more attractive and convenient hub for routing passengers between India and key global markets, including the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, and destinations across Europe and beyond.
Indian nationals can now benefit from smoother and more efficient connections through the extensive Lufthansa Group network via the Frankfurt and Munich hubs.
Lufthansa connects India with over 50 weekly flights to five destinations:
- Bengaluru (BLR): daily from Frankfurt and Munich
- Chennai (MAA): daily from Frankfurt
- Delhi (DEL): daily from Frankfurt and Munich
- Hyderabad (HYD): 6 times weekly from Frankfurt
- Mumbai (BOM): daily from Frankfurt and Munich
