Lufthansa Group brings Starlink high-speed internet on board

The Lufthansa Group is continuing to invest in the premium travel experience and will be introducing a new, particularly powerful high-speed internet service on board from 2026. Together with Starlink, the leading provider of satellite-based broadband connections, the entire fleet – around 850 aircraft – will be equipped with one of the fastest in-flight connections on the market.
The enormous bandwidth enables applications that were previously hardly feasible on board, including:
- High-quality streaming
- Cloud-based working without interruptions
- Fast synchronization of data and applications
The Lufthansa Group is thus fulfilling a central wish of many travelers: to be online above the clouds almost as if they were on the ground.
The new high-speed service is available free of charge to all status customers and Travel ID users – across all travel classes.
The first flights equipped with Starlink will take off in the second half of 2026, and the entire fleet will be equipped by 2029. This will make the Lufthansa Group the largest airline group in Europe to upgrade its fleet with the latest high-speed internet – no other airline will equip more aircraft with Starlink technology.
