Legendary Lockheed Super Star finds a new home in Frankfurt

(August 2025)

A piece of aviation history has returned to Frankfurt. The legendary Lockheed Super Star has reached its new home in the future Lufthansa Conference and Visitor Center. From spring 2026, it will be on display to the public in a permanent exhibition.

The historic aircraft, a symbol of innovation and elegance in the 1950s, has been repainted in recent weeks to reflect the original livery of that era.

About the Super Star:

The Lockheed Super Star joined the Lufthansa fleet in 1957 and was the first aircraft to feature the exclusive Senator class. It was mainly used on the non-stop transatlantic route from Hamburg to New York, making the Lockheed Super Star a technical masterpiece. With its four piston engines, it closed the chapter on classic propeller aircraft. The Super Star is 35.42 meters long, has a wingspan of 45.18 meters, and is 7.12 meters high.
