Austrian Airlines to fly to Dubai in winter 2025/2026
(4 September 2025)
Dubai entices with sunshine, beaches, desert magic, and spectacular experiences – the perfect winter escape for your customers. Starting 1 December 2025, Austrian Airlines will operate seasonal flights from Vienna to the vibrant Arab metropolis of Dubai (DXB) five times a week.
Instead of long-haul aircraft, the route will be operated by the Airbus A320neo. While there will be no inflight entertainment, passengers can expect new options and features to tailor the flight experience to their individual preferences. Austrian Airlines is focusing on convenience features and small onboard highlights to make the journey enjoyable, nonetheless.
Austrian Airlines to fly to Milan-Linate from winter 2025/2026
(June 2025)
Airport change in Milan: Starting 26 October 2025, Austrian Airlines will fly to Milan-Linate (LIN) up to four times a day instead of Milan-Malpensa. Linate Airport is much closer to Milan, which will significantly shorten the journey time to the city center for travelers.
The new “Servus” in the sky—the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner
(Update: August 2024)
The Dreamliner makes dreams come true. Whether in Business Class, Premium Economy, or Economy Class, on board the Austrian Airlines Boeing 787-9 a new, improved travel experience awaits your customers—in all travel classes.
Business Class guests can enjoy generously sized seats that transform easily into lie-flat beds. As well as the greatest comfort, the seats provide direct access to the aisle and ample storage space. In addition, the seats’ raised side panels ensure a high degree of privacy.
The windows, which are among the largest in the entire airline industry, allow even passengers in the middle rows an uninterrupted view of the horizon. Thanks to electronic dimming, passengers can adjust the amount of light coming through the windows to suit their individual preferences, while still enjoying the breathtaking view above the clouds.
An innovative lighting system also awaits passengers on board. It adapts to the body’s clock, depending on the time of day or night, and therefore not only ensures additional well-being on board but has also been proven to help reduce jet lag.
Available for the first time on Austrian Airlines long-haul flights: FlyNet® Internet access with free messaging service in all travel classes.
Of course, Austrian hospitality and cuisine are not neglected either. For example, Do & Co Flying Chefs and the “Viennese coffee house service” provide culinary delights in Business Class. Premium Economy and Economy Class passengers have a choice of different menus.
The Dreamliner seats a total of 294 passengers: 26 in Business Class, 21 in Premium Economy and 247 in Economy Class.
The Boeing 787-9 destinations
The first two Dreamliners delivered to Austrian Airlines have been deployed on the following US routes:
- Vienna–New York (JFK)–Vienna: daily except Sundays
- Vienna–Chicago (ORD)–Vienna: daily except Wednesdays
A further nine Boeing 787-9s will gradually replace Austrian Airlines’ existing long-haul jets by 2028.
Innovation and efficiency
At around 2.5 liters of fuel per passenger per 100 km flown, the Dreamliner’s fuel consumption is up to 20% less than that of a Boeing 767. Its innovative technology, lower weight, good aerodynamics, and state-of-the-art engines make the 787-9 significantly more fuel-efficient than its predecessor models, which means it emits less CO2.
The new destinations from the 2023 summer flight schedule, such as Porto (OPO), Marseille (MRS), and Vilnius (VNO), will also continue in the winter flight schedule.
Austrian Airlines is also expanding its services on long-haul flights this winter, flying up to four times a week to Shanghai (PVG). Frequencies to New York (EWR), Marrakech (RAK), and Cairo (CAI) will also be increased.
Overall, Austrian Airlines will offer a total of 86 destinations in winter, including 70 continental and 16 intercontinental destinations.
