Artificial intelligence in everyday aviation life
Boarding on SWISS flights will be faster and more efficient in future. Since the beginning of the year, the Swiss airline has been replacing the manual passenger counting process with a digital process based on artificial intelligence. The introduction is planned for the third quarter of 2024 on short-haul routes and for the fourth quarter of 2024 on long-haul routes. SWISS is relying on the proven IT solution from the Berlin-based start-up company Vion AI GmbH. The new process will significantly speed up boarding on SWISS flights, enhancing travel comfort and reducing the workload on crews. SWISS and Vion AI will be further developing the tested software over the next few months and will again be using cameras on selected flights.
With the introduction of this digital solution for passenger counting, SWISS is taking an important step towards the future.
