Entertainment on Board
eJournals
Many newspapers and magazines in various languages and genres are now available to Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines passengers as complimentary eJournals. They are easily downloadable to a smartphone, tablet or laptop before the flight. This way, reading material is available before, during and after the flight in a space-saving, convenient and environmentally friendly format.
Passengers can simply enter their name and booking code and they can download their title of choice to their mobile device before their flight. They can use their free download allocation from five days before travel up to the last day of their journey.
In-Flight Entertainment System
The in-flight entertainment system is free of charge and accessible to passengers simply by setting their device (smartphone, tablet, laptop) to flight mode before take-off and activating WiFi in their settings. Access is quick and easy via boardconnect.aero, and no additional device-specific app needs to be downloaded.
The system allows passengers to connect even at high altitude, accessing a wide range of content for free: major Italian, German and international newspapers, magazines, videos, mini-games, music, destination guides and the moving map section (featuring live tracking of the aircraft position on the map), as well as updated information on the company's special offers and/or partners and on in-flight events. All content is available in three languages: Italian, English and German.
Austrian FlyNet – Wi-Fi on board
Whether it’s reading emails, chatting with friends or shopping online above the clouds – there’s something for everyone: Austrian FlyNet offers two different service packages for purchase.
The Austrian Airlines aircraft equipped with FlyNet can be identified by a Wi-Fi symbol. There are leaflets in the seat pockets that explain in a few steps how easy it is to use internet on board.
As well as the service packages available for purchase, passengers can access free content, such as Travel Guides and Austrian Airlines services, at any time.

Short and medium-haul flights: complimentary FlyNet® Premium for HON Circle Members

Austrian Airlines is offering HON Circle Members the FlyNet® Premium Internet package with unlimited data volume free of charge on all Airbus A320 aircraft equipped with Wi-Fi. While video streaming services are disabled to guarantee a fair bandwidth distribution, video playback on social media platforms, audio streaming, and access to the Cloud and VPN services are available.
How it works:
HON Circle Members simply log on to the FlyNet® portal with their personal Miles & More or Travel ID and then select “Free Premium”.
Good to know: On long-haul flights, HON Circle Members already benefit from unlimited Internet access for the entire duration of the flight at no extra cost.

Inflight service
The in-flight entertainment program makes the time in the air fly by. Whether passengers want to be entertained, learn something or prefer to work – there is a free choice in every travel class.
On long-haul flights, a personal interactive screen can be used to enjoy a wide range of entertainment options. Passengers can choose from the latest blockbusters, award-winning documentaries, the most popular TV series or simply listen to the best music. There’s also a dedicated kids’ corner for the little ones with children’s films, cartoons and games to keep even the youngest passengers entertained.
Films, music and games provide variety and entertainment
Long-haul
The entertainment program ranges from classics and TV series to children's films in over 400 films and 200 TV programs. Those who prefer to just listen can choose from over 100 albums, playlists, podcasts and audio books. Passengers who fancy a game, can play Tetris and quiz games.
In addition, passengers can access travel information and follow the route on interactive maps during the flight. Business Class guests are provided with noise-cancelling headphones in a reusable bag made from recycled ocean plastic and an adapter to use personal headphones on board. Short & Medium-Haul
On short- and medium-haul flights passengers can enjoy plenty of entertainment on all the Edelweiss Airbus A320’s. Movies, documentaries, series, music, playlists, Airshow and Edelweiss Air information is all available free of change. The inflight entertainment program is updated on a regular basis and has something to suit all ages and tastes from action, romance, fun, facts to relaxing music.
Holiday E-reading
After booking a flight via flyedelweiss.com, the E-reading offers are available a week before departure and throughout the entire travel. Seven days before departure, the passenger will receive an e-mail containing all flight details and access to the download area of the E-reading library. After logging in, passengers can access a wide variety of digital titles. Depending on the seat category, they will have access to a certain number of free titles – and are always free to purchase additional e-magazines and publications.
How It Works
Accessing the E-reading library is simple:
- A week before the flight the passenger will receive an e-mail with the trip details. The e-mail contains the download link to the Edelweiss holiday library.
- In the download section, the number of credits for each booking (for outbound and inbound flights) is shown.
- The desired title can be selected by clicking on the cover image. The download will start on the digital device. A WiFi connection is recommended. Note: passengers cannot download during the flight.

Coming in summer 2025: free messaging on long-haul flights

Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa and SWISS are improving the travel experience on board and introducing unlimited free messaging on long-haul flights starting summer 2025. Passengers in all travel classes will be able to send and receive as many messages as they like, including photos, during the flight on their own smartphone or tablet using the familiar apps.
The service has been available on Austrian Airlines and Lufthansa short and medium-haul flights since 2024 and has been a great success.

Lufthansa is offering new in-flight entertainment options on board short and medium-haul flights: passengers can now access around 45 renowned German and English-language magazines free of charge via the FlyNet® Wi-Fi portal and read their favorite titles on their own electronic device.
Another new feature on board European flights is a wide range of free of charge podcasts in German and English from various genres, such as business, travel, science and entertainment.

Free messaging on flights within Europe

Good news for travelers who want to be reachable above the clouds. Starting 15 January 2024, Austrian Airlines and Lufthansa will offer unlimited free messaging. Passengers will then be able to send and receive as many messages as they like, including photos, on their own smartphone or tablet – free of charge! Free messaging is available on all aircraft of the A320 family that are equipped with Wi-Fi.
The offer is exclusively available to travelers with a Miles & More account or a Lufthansa Group Travel ID.
Streaming and surfing will also become significantly cheaper: the prices for all other Wi-Fi passes will be reduced by almost 50 percent.
Lufthansa FlyNet®: now internet use is cheaper and faster
