“Tastefully Austrian”: A culinary experience in the air

With the aim of highlighting Austrian hospitality and culinary delights, Austrian Airlines is introducing a new culinary concept on long-haul flights: "Tastefully Austrian". Highlights in Business Class include a bar snack with a welcome drink and the addition of soup to the menu. Travelers can also expect new recipes and creations in Premium Economy and Economy Class.

After a three-year-long pause due to the pandemic, Austrian Airlines and catering partner DO & CO are planning the comeback of the “Flying Chefs”. Starting April 2023, the chefs will once again pamper Business class guests on Austrian Airlines long-haul flights with culinary delights – and offer an unforgettable gourmet experience above the clouds with top-class service.
Brussels Airlines and Neuhaus reintroduce Belgian chocolate boxes

Brussels Airlines is once again extending its collaboration with Belgian chocolatier Neuhaus. After a three-year break, the large praline boxes will make their reappearance on board long-haul flights and every Business Class passenger will receive a chocolate gift box.

Business Class guests on short- and medium-haul flights can now look forward to an improved menu, more variety and more fresh products with a Belgian culinary touch. Porcelain tableware rounds off the upgraded in-flight experience – and ensures greater sustainability at the same time.
Edelweiss Air
Passengers enjoy delicious, seasonal food prepared with the highest quality regional products. In addition to Swiss classics, typical dishes from the divine overseas holiday destinations will be offered. Edelweiss honors the heritage by serving products that reflect the Swiss roots, including bread from Bertschi bakery and our Swiss Biberli (gingerbread filled with almond paste).

Edelweiss offers a cold appetizer, main course and a dessert. Different menus are available from and to Zurich.
On the flights back to Switzerland, in addition to a Swiss meal, there is also a choice of typical local dishes from the holiday destinations overseas. Created by local chefs and tasted by our food testers. Because good food makes for a good holiday mood, a dessert inspired by one of our dream destinations is presented on long-haul flights from Switzerland.
The specially developed Edelweiss Box is fresh, unique and modern for serving. It also elegantly covers food, eliminating the need for a disposable plastic lid. In line with the desire to make the on-board experience as sustainable as possible, the Edelweiss Box is reusable.

Business Class passengers can choose their individual meals free of charge from our menu. For the sophisticated palate, our menu features a selection of quality products distinguished by their regional origin, preparation, and unique ingredients.
Lufthansa Business Class: New catering concept on short- and medium-haul flights
Lufthansa is improving the travel experience with new meals on short- and medium-haul flights in Business Class. The new catering concept combines local cuisine and European influences and offers an even greater culinary variety. Business Class guests can look forward to new delicious starters, main courses and desserts.
On routes with a flight time of around two hours, Lufthansa passengers will be able to choose from a wider range of vegetarian and non-vegetarian cold dishes. On long routes with a flight time of three hours or more, travelers will be able to choose between three hot dishes instead of the previous two.
Brand new: Hot meals can be pre-ordered with “Pre-Select” for flights lasting more than two hours. There are up to nine dishes to choose from.
New culinary highlights in Lufthansa Business Class

Board, take off, relax: Lufthansa is adding new highlights to the culinary offering in Business Class on long-haul flights:
- The new signature drink Avionic will be served as a welcome drink as an alternative to water and sparkling wine. The Avionic Apéritif, which is based on peach notes and wild meadow herbs, is mixed on ice with tonic.
- A special handmade bread developed exclusively for Lufthansa by World Baker of the Year 2022 Axel Schmitt will be served with handmade butter and high-quality olive oil as an appetizer. In each quarter, there will be a different type of bread specially created for Lufthansa.
- For the first time ever, Business Class guests will be served a vegetarian amuse-bouche, from antipasti to sushi, as a prelude to the first service on board.
- There is a new, modular snack offer for in between meals, which varies depending on the length of the route and time of day. This includes snacks, fresh fruit and, on longer flights, fresh salty and sweet treats such as tomato and mozzarella skewers or wraps with pastrami.
- Starting June 2024, every passenger will be given a small box of Lindt chocolates in an exclusive Lufthansa design as a farewell gift. Lufthansa Business Class guests will thus be offered an all-round appealing service, from the welcome moment to the

Chicken caesar salad, a sweet potato sandwich or a lemon cheesecake? On flights within Europe with a flight time of 60 minutes or more, Lufthansa passengers will be able to pre-order delicious meals like these online starting 8 February 2023.
The selection and order can be conveniently made online via the new Pre-flight Shop and paid for cashless on board.
The pre-order offer exclusively includes fresh food such as bowls, salads, sandwiches and cakes, which were developed together with partners dean&david and Dallmayr.
With the new service, Lufthansa ensures that the desired meal is available on board. At the same time, the new concept makes an important contribution to greater sustainability and to combating food waste and unnecessary packaging waste by improving the ability to plan meals.
Buy fresh food at a lower price with "Lufthansa Onboard Delights Last Minute”

Lufthansa passengers have the opportunity on all cross-border European flights to Frankfurt and Munich, on which Onboard Delights are offered, to purchase fresh meals, such as salads, bowls and sandwiches, that have not been sold by then shortly before landing at a lower price of € 3.50 and take them with them. As the fresh meals are deliberately prepared without colorants or preservatives, they have a short shelf life and must be disposed of if they are not sold on the designated flights. Onboard Delights Last Minute is therefore another step towards reducing food waste on board.
Austrian, SWISS and Eurowings have already been offering unsold food at reduced prices since 2022. As a result, about 80,000 food products were consumed in 2022 that would otherwise have been disposed of.

On Lufthansa flights within Europe, the share bar is available for purchase as one of many Onboard Delights. Buying a share bar not only makes the flight a bit sweeter, it also supports the help alliance Sunshine Project that enables children in India to attend school.
SWISS extends pre-select option to Business Class meals on short-haul flights

SWISS Business guests on short-haul flights now also have the option of selecting additional main courses in advance.
- On short-haul flights of over one hour from and to Zurich, passengers may now choose from a total of six cold dishes which are served with cheese and a dessert.
- On longer flights, there is a total choice of seven hot main courses depending on destination – including one dish from the “SWISS Taste of Switzerland” menu, which is otherwise only offered on long-haul services. The hot main courses are served with cheese and a dessert, plus a salad.
SWISS passengers can order their preferred dish online, any time from six weeks up to 24 hours before departure.

As part of the "SWISS Taste of Switzerland" concept, SWISS First, SWISS Business and SWISS Premium Economy guests on long-haul flights departing from Switzerland can now look forward to creative dishes from Laurent Eperon. The star chef uses fresh, local and seasonal ingredients to create his imaginative compositions and lends his dishes a personal touch using spices he discovered on his travels.

SWISS Business guests on long-haul flights from Switzerland can now preselect their prefered main course up to 36 hours before departure at swiss.com/preselect. Choosing in advance ensures that travelers receive exactly the dish they want from the menu. In addition to the four SWISS Taste of Switzerland menus, there are four more dishes to choose from.
Pre-order culinary delights in just a few clicks

SWISS Economy passengers can already enjoy a variety of culinary delights on the majority of European routes with the award-winning SWISS Saveurs concept. Thanks to the new SWISS Saveurs Pre-Order service, travelers can now decide before their journey begins which fresh products from the renowned Swiss family-owned company Confiserie Sprüngli they would like to receive during their flight.
Making use of SWISS Saveurs Pre-Order up to 36 hours before departure guarantees that passengers get exactly what they like most on the menu. They also benefit from a reduced price (10% discount).
With its new SWISS Saveurs Pre-Order service, SWISS aims to offer an even better travel experience. In the long term, the airline also expects SWISS Saveurs Pre-Order to make a significant contribution to reducing food waste on board SWISS aircraft.
